HABC Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention (QCF)

This accredited qualification is ideal for anyone working in a variety of roles relating to retail or in licensed premises.

It provides information on legislation relating to age-restricted products and how to prevent the unlawful sale of age-restricted products such as alcohol, knives, aerosols, lottery tickets, cigarettes, tobacco and tobacco products, and fireworks.

Subjects covered include underage sales prevention for retail and licensed premises, prevention of unlawful sales of age-restricted products and legislation.
This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-day course.

Age restricted sales include the sale of:

o Alcohol (18)
o Cigarettes, tobacco and tobacco products (18)
o Knives, axes and blades (18)
o Crossbows (18)
o Airguns (18)
o Volatile substances and solvents (18)
o Fireworks and sparklers (18)
o Lighter refills containing butane (18)
o Lottery tickets and instant win cards (16)
o Liqueur chocolates (16)
o Aerosol paint (16)
o Party poppers, caps, cracker snaps, novelty matches (16)
o Videos/DVD’s/movies/video or computer games (12,15,18)
o Petrol (16)

It is assessed through a 15-question multiple-choice examination.  The duration of the examination is 30 minutes.  Candidates must answer 10 correct answers in order to pass.
